This is a behavior quite easy for me to duplicate. I'm not sure if there is something crazy with my environment or what, but I have a fresh Virtual PC image with Windows Server 2008 (x86), VS 2008 SP1 and MOSS installed. After installing WSPBuilder, VS no longer starts up successfully. It crashes with an event log entry that looks like this:

msenv.dll, version 9.0.21022.8, time stamp 0x47317c00, exception code 0xc00000fd, fault offset 0x000b4210, process id 0x1700, application start time 0x01c99372b95143c0.

If I uninstall WSPBuilder, VS can then start up successfully each time. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just me?

Additional Note: I found a comment on one of Carsten's blog posts that states the exact same thing, but no reply from Carsten. Has this not been tested on Windows Server 2008? I don't mind helping investigate this, so suggestions are welcome.

Same situation here, but I'm using Windows Server 2003 + Visual Studio 2008 and WSS 3.0.
In other virtual machines (with same OS and Visual Studio) all works fine.

In the event viewer I see the same error:

Faulting application devenv.exe, version 9.0.21022.8, stamp 47317b3d, faulting module msenv.dll, version 9.0.21022.8, stamp 47317c00, debug? 0, fault address 0x000b4210.

I am experiencing this problem, too.

Had the same problem on WS2003 SP2 with VS2008 with v1.03, v.104 or v.105 of WSP Builder .. working fine on Vista + VS2008

Fixed it by uninstalling WSPBuilder and applying VS2008 SP1 after which V1.0.5 of WSP Builder installed successfully.
