Additional Web.Config entries?

Is there a way to get WSPBuilder to include extra web.config entries? I have 2 DLLs in my project that I am placing in the GAC, but because of what they do I also need them to be listed in the configuration/system.web/compilation/assemblies section. It would also be nice to be able to include some appsettings keys. Right now I am manually adding the appsettings and the 2 assembly entries. It would be awsome if it could be done without having to write custom actions.

The WSP Schema from Microsoft do not support custom modification in web.config for the SharePoint webapplication. You have to create a SharePoint "Feature" to make these modifications.

Some links you can use.
