deploy a custom .config file to 80\bin

I tried, but only the dlls get packaged and copied to the 80\bin directory.  Is there any way I can get my custom application  .config copied too?

Otherwise WSPBuilder is the best developer tool for SharePoint out there :-)

Only .DLL's are supported for deployment to the WebApplication/bin folder. This is a limitation by the WSP schema definition. So no, it's not possible.

I had a similar requirement. I overcame this by renaming my custom files with the extension  '.DLL'.

I also had this issue when trying to create a wsp for MOSS Menu. The default is having the sitemap that controls the menu options to be in _app_bin or bin. The solution I found was to add the sitemap to /80/wpresources and configuring MOSS Menu to use the sitemap from that location. So if you can move custom files to /80/wpresources the problem will go away.
