How can one customized WSP Builder process?

I realize that WSP Builder eliminates the need to create a ddf, dwp, makecab, manifest.xml, etc. However I would like to have some control over constructing my project files and the manifest.xml file. Is this possible?

I saw mention of a new feature in WSP Builder for using a local configuration file? Is this true and how do I use it to customize how my WSP Builder project is built? Any info on the config options for the wspbuilder.exe.config file?

Thanks

Yes, you make a copy of the file WSPBuilder.exe.config at the same level as your 12 and 80 folders and the solutionid.txt file.  You can copy that file from the folder C:\Program Files\WSPTools\WSPBuilderExtensions and then edit it to include any customisation you like.  I generally set this:
<ADD value="False" key="Cleanup">
which stops the manifest.xml file from being deleted.
