SP 2010 and VS 2008 problem

Nov 11, 2011 at 7:07 AM

Hello,

I have a problem, I am building SP 2010 development environment with VS 2008 and WSPBuilder, but does not seem to work, because firstly my SP 2007 projects do not work on my new development environment, I get an error:

"The project type is not supported by this installation"

I have installed SP 2010 SDK and WSPBuilder, I don't see sharepoint templates in VS 2008 online WSPBuilder templates.

Has any one any advise to my problem?

Thanks.

"SP 2010 development environment with VS 2008" that's your first problem.

"my SP 2007 projects do not work on my new development environment" and there's your second.

Are you new to Visual Studio and SharePoint development? If so, I would refer you to the compatibility matrix for both.

The issue here is that VS 2008 doesn't have the project templates the SDK uses because they were created for VS 2010. It means you cannot use the projects in the SDK. It does not mean that you cannot continue to create code against SP 2010, however. Projects provide some "extras" in the background as a convenience. If you are capable of creating those on your own, you can certainly work around this problem.
